  1. I bet they were measuring alertness fairly quickly after eating. Carbs will give you an initial boost in alertness, but if they are high glycemic index carbs, yes a crash will follow. I can relate to the report about high fat foods though. One time I made Indian food with too much vegetable oil and I passed out for about 2 hrs after eating.
